FULL WEEK PRIMARY SERIES IMMERSION (practice option 1)
Monday February 25, 2019 - Sunday March 3, 2019
We are excited to welcome Taylor Hunt back to Napa for an empowering week long intensive - diving deep into the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. This week will be particularly special. It will be the first time Taylor has offered this unique curriculum outside of his home shala in Columbus Ohio.
The week is designed for Yoga students, teachers, and health care professionals seeking to better themselves, help others and become a part of a global community.
In addition to daily morning Mysore practice with Taylor, we will have afternoon workshops on asana, anatomy, philosophy, adjusting, Sanskrit counting and chanting as it pertains to the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. Taylor will share with the group the role Ashtanga Yoga has played throughout his journey - from the depths of addiction and depression to becoming a globally respected teacher, published author, husband and father of three, and founder of the non-profit organization, The Trini Foundation. Taylor will also address the current national health crisis associated with drug and alcohol addiction and how Ashtanga yoga can be offered as a tool to help people achieve long-term sobriety.
Immersion Topics include (but aren't limited to):
Basics of practice within the Primary Series including Sanskrit language, names of asana, cadence, and vinyasa count.
Postural anatomy, reading bodies and understanding the components of safe and effective adjustment techniques in personal practice, and when working with individuals who have experienced trauma.
Review of addiction and the current health crisis in the United States
The Trini Foundation’s mission and how Ashtanga Yoga can be used as a tool to help people recover from addiction and trauma.

Tuition: $600.00 - Includes all Mysore classes, lectures, workshops, materials and VIP access to Taylor all week long. Does NOT include airfare, lodging, meals or transportation.
A portion of the tuition is donated to the Trini Foundation. A $200 non-refundable deposit is included in the program cost. No refunds will be given within 30 days of the workshop. As this is not a teacher training course, you will not receive any Yoga Alliance credit for participation. Certification and Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga may only be granted through the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India where we encourage all participants to make regular trips to study.

Join Taylor for a traditional led Primary Series class. Taylor will lead the group using Sanskrit vinyasa count, names of asana, and traditional pacing. This class is open to all students including non-ashtanga practitioners.

SATURDAY MARCH 2 - 1:00PM - 4:00PM
FOUNDATIONS: CLEAN IT UP + GROUND YOUR PRACTICE
In this workshop, we will take an in-depth look at the Ashtanga Yoga method while discussing Surya Namaskara and the foundational standing and seated poses of the Primary Series. These poses play an integral role in beginning the process of purification, realigning the skeletal system, opening the hips and hamstrings and toning the leg muscles. They create a grounded and stable base to further progress in the practice. We will spend ample time exploring proper alignment and techniques to work through restricted movements. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practitioners.
SUNDAY MARCH 3 - 1:00PM - 4:00PM
Backbends are a wonderful way to strengthen the back and balance the body after the many forward folds of the Primary Series. Learn proper alignment and technique to safely approach back bending. We will explore a diverse collection of backbends from the Primary and Second series designed to open the front of the body and realign the spine. This is a fun and challenging workshop for all levels of practitioners.

Taylor Hunt is a devoted practitioner and teacher of Ashtanga yoga. He makes yearly trips to Mysore, India to further his studies at the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) under the guidance of his teacher, R. Sharath Jois. In 2013, Taylor was granted Level 2 Authorization to teach and has had the honor of assisting at KPJAYI on several occasions. Taylor is dedicated to sharing the healing practice with others and providing a community where practitioners can find support in their practice and daily lives. Seeking to preserve the traditional method, Taylor teaches daily Mysore classes at Ashtanga Yoga Columbus and offers workshops around the world. He is also the author of A Way From Darkness and director of the Trini Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing the life-changing practice of Ashtanga with those suffering from addiction. He continues to inspire others through his story of personal transformation and accessible approach to the practice.
