6:00pm - 8:00pm: What constitutes practice? An Ashtanga Yoga Discussion and Q & A session with Tim.

What constitutes practice? In this talk Tim will address what it is you are supposed to be doing when you are doing yoga on your mat. The ancient, yogic goals of health & liberation to our bodies, minds and hearts sometimes gets lost in the modern western attempt of yoga postures. Like, did you ever wonder how bending your back and jumping through your arms is possibly going to help you elevate your mind, release deep psychological patterns and lead you to a freer, happier state of living? Come learn what classic yogic texts says about ashtanga practice and how to apply it to your own yoga practice for long term benefit.

An interactive evening with one of Ashtanga Yoga's most respected teachers, this talk is not to be missed.

Ashtanga Talk Tuition: $45.00

Full Weekend Tuition: $220.00

A melting pot of yoga practitioners of all levels from beginner to advanced, this class sets out to offer personalized guidance to every practitioner at exactly where you need it most. Build relationship with yourself, your practice and your teacher in this inspiring energy. Come experience Ashtanga Yoga's five thousand year old lineage and honor the teachers, sages and gurus, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, his son R. Sharath Jois and every Ashtanga practitioner today upholding this scared tradition. Doors will open at 8:00am and not earlier. Students must be in back bending by 10:00 and out of final rest by 10:30.

1:00pm - 3:00pm: Gateway Postures of the Primary Series

The Primary Series, Yoga Chikitsa, is meant to heal and strengthen our body and mind; preparing ourselves for a deeper and more subtle asana exploration in the Intermediate Series, Nadi Shodana. But sometimes we get a bit stuck! The leg just won’t go where we want it to or our knees, wrists or shoulders seems more achy than happy when attempting the higher notes of this series - also called the 'Gateway Postures.'  Ease in these gateway postures serves as an indicator that our body has grown ready for a next level, but what to do when we can’t find our body molding those fancy shapes?

This workshop addresses that issue. Focusing on technique, proper alignment and anatomical insights will help you to understand how your body moves and how to progress to the next level of your aptitude. We set up for a detailed experience of these difficult gateway postures, slowly peeling the layers that obstruct our view and motion required to find the freedom and power which Sri Patanjali promises in this yoga method.

3:30pm - 5:30pm: Sthira Sukham & Backbending

Develop your ‘sthirasukha’, your firmness and comfort, for success and health in your yoga. The practice starts with directing your mind towards the essential. Cultivating a relationship with your approach to your practice determines your success. We will look at what it takes to bend backwards with no fear. The keys to deep backbends are available to you through the integration of sound anatomical principles, healthy alignment techniques and accurate activation of your inner body. The dynamic movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to an enhanced flow of energy, and in this class you will begin to explore you natural potential for deep backbends with simplicity, safety, support and enthusiasm. The workshop aims at developing tools to a personal and balanced practice.
